How to Really Fix Our Schools
The Economic Policy Institute has published two documents that make clear that the dominant reform narrative, while perhaps well meaning, is clearly on the wrong track in this country. The first is a response penned by Richard Rothstein to the Klein/Rhee "Manifesto." The second is a new report on Problems with Using Student Test Scores to Evaluate Teachers. These approaches will have counter-productive effects, say the researchers, and are the wrong agenda for education reform. The ten researchers who authored the Problems with Using Test Scores report are inviting researchers and educators to sign on to their statement here.
